There is a certain satisfaction that comes with being able to do one's laundry. Some places just cannot get a certain blouse to be cleaned enough to one's liking. And dry-cleaning is just so expensive for things that one has to wear over and over again. In the city, laundry can be quite difficult as laws dictate where clothes lines are not allowed and where water should not be thrown out to the gutter. And having it done at the Laundromat could mean having to lug a heavy laundry bag out to the street, a long walk to the Laundromat, and a possibility of losing a sock or tearing a blouse in the public washer, all on top of the fact that it can add up to a pretty penny. So for people who have a laundry room in the city or for people who are lucky enough to have a laundry room in their building, they have it better off. But they also tend to complain about the evil Front Load Washer Smell. Grime just tends to stick to the metal and the build-up of lint can make the washer smell just a little bit funky. The clothes don't suffer that much the first time around but after a while the smell could find itself lodged in the more absorbent cottons and linens and this would ultimately defeat the purpose of doing the laundry at home.
So what can one do to get rid of the Front Load Washer Smell? While many people believe that the washing machine itself may be self-cleaning, often times this is not actually the case. Even cleaning machines will need to be cleaned as well. What one could do to get rid of the smell is to scrub the affected area with a bristled brush and a bit of lemon scent. Lemon has a way of killing the smell as well as disinfecting the surface. There are also special cleaning agents that contain citrus smells that are not limited to lemon alone. If one prefers the smell of oranges or limes, that's okay as well. They are not as strong as lemon but they are in the citrus family and citrus works well with eliminating bad odors. Leaving the washer open and letting it dry out from time to is also a good idea as to removing the smell as bacteria can be trapped in stagnant water.
